Primary Purpose

Provide instructional support services to English as a Second Language (ESL) students.  Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.  Work under supervision of certified teacher. 

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Associate’s degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirements

Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

Ability to work well with children

Ability to communicate effectively

General knowledge of standard office equipment

Experience:

Some experience working with children

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Moderate walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying up to 53 pounds; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Responsibilities require contact with individuals that may include exposure to disruptive behavior.
