Primary Purpose: 

Maintain painted surfaces to all exterior and interior building components and furnishings that need paint and related maintenance.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification:  High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Experience:  3years

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of preparation methods for painting

Must be able to properly apply paints with brushes, rollers, or paint machine

Must be knowledgeable and have an ability to mix paint to match new or existing colors

Must be able to work off of ladders or elevated platforms without undue personal danger or danger to others.

Must be able to utilize protective breathing equipment

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

1.  Be continuously aware of changes in trade products and technologies

2.  Implement new methods of preparation and painting to save time and money

3.  Assist Master Carpenter/Supervisor in developing and completing painting project cost

4.  Maintain tools and machinery for peak performance

5.  Inspect job site to determine proper procedure and materials

6.  Estimate time and material cost

7.  Execute manufactures safety requirements for use and disposal

8.  Protect all areas not to be painted

9.  Prepare surfaces to be painted

10. Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner

11. Maintain records and reports pertaining to all phases and areas of painting

12. Demostrate a positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to perform any additional              tasks as assigned by Supervisor

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Paint sprayers, mixers, sanders, ladders, solvents, brushes, rollers, masking machine, striping machine, and respirator equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Attendance:  Must be able to work the number of calendar days as required for position without a high degree of absenteeism.

Physical Demands:

Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying - over 45 pounds.  Ability to operate hand and power tools; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.  Responsibilities of the position can cause and require irregular work hours.

Environment:

Work outside and inside:  Exposure to hot and cold temperatures:  Exposure to excessive noise, dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces: working on elevated platform ladders, scaffolding, around machinery with moving parts, etc.; working alone.

 

Wage/Hour Status:    Non-Exempt

Pay Grade:  Auxiliary 5 - Annualized

Reports to:  Supervisor of Carpentry
